Employee Resource Groups
Working together to create a culture of belonging
Everyone plays an important role in building a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Through our employee resource groups, or ERGs, each employee at HarbourVest can directly contribute to and guide the firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. These groups—all volunteer, employee led, and with identifying members and allies alike—provide an active voice for representation and opportunities to connect and network with fellow colleagues.
Supporting all types of disabilities—mental, social, neurological, physical, or other. The group encourages colleagues across the firm to support awareness, acceptance, inclusion, accessibility, policies, and more.
Fostering personal cultural connections among the firm’s Asian American and Pacific Islander colleagues. This group solicits professional support and shares valuable resources to support HarbourVest’s mission of building an inclusive workforce.
For caregivers, the workday does not stop when one leaves the office. This group offers colleagues support and resources in whatever caregiver role they play.
Understanding the expectations, skills, and perspectives each generation brings to the workplace. This group builds strong intergenerational teams and encourages a collaborative environment where employees of all ages have opportunities to grow.
Supporting, developing, and nurturing the firm’s Latine community. This group builds new relationships, offers support and camaraderie, creates a sense of belonging, and elevates cultural awareness within the firm and local communities.
Supporting and celebrating LGBTQ+ identifying people at the firm and reinforcing HarbourVest as a place where individuals can bring their whole selves to work. This group provides community, education, and advocacy, a space of bravery, and resources that further professional and personal success.
Developing comradery among veterans and allies. This group fosters support and encouragement through shared experiences to form new relationships, promote professional growth, and retain and recruit new employees.
Supporting the professional growth of women at the firm. This group provides a community and resources to further professional and personal success—with the goal of building and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
At HarbourVest, wellness is a firmwide priority. This Wellness ERG provides a safe space where employees can gather and work together to not only improve their overall wellness – emotional, financial mental, and physical – but also support one another throughout the process. Our mission is to help all members discover ways for them to achieve and maintain balance in their lives in group and individual settings.

This is an important initiative that's near and dear to my heart. My brother has Autism, and he is my inspiration for everything. I want to make sure everyone with different abilities, including my brother, has access to what they need to thrive. I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead the first disability awareness group at HarbourVest and be a part of strengthening our diverse community.

I want the ERG to make a space that encourages Asian colleagues to break free from the stereotype of being underestimated as followers, as opposed to leaders, despite being raised to work hard and give it our all. I’m excited to create a space where we can work towards an inclusive future and one where our Asian colleagues can excel in the career paths they choose without any pre-conceived notions holding them back.

Ultimately, age is not static, and neither is HarbourVest; our Generational ERG affects us all. Strengthening generational collaboration and communication style is vital, especially with the potential of today’s junior employees becoming tomorrow’s leaders. Our company’s growth has added a lot of age diversity to our teams, and through this network we will build support for individuals, functions, and the company as a whole.
